Prevention Facilitator

The McCall Prevention Facilitator functions as a member of the Prevention Department. The Prevention Facilitator will split their time supporting two community-based prevention initiatives. Half of their time will be spent supporting the Partnerships for Success (PFS) program, a youth substance use prevention coalition servicing the communities of Southbury and Thomaston. The other half of this positions time will be spent supporting the Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) program, a suicide prevention initiative focused on providing training and education to the wider Litchfield County community. Related responsibilities will include collaborating with other program staff on each initiative, implementing youth substance use prevention curriculum, supporting mental health promotion, providing suicide prevention training to various communities and populations, and promoting broad prevention programming in the identified regions. The position will have a flexible 40 hour per week schedule based on the timing of the various groups and programs throughout the year.

Non-Exempt, Full time

Schedule is Monday to Friday with flexible hours

Pay Range begins at $24/hour

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in social work, public health or related field is preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is desirable. Strong leadership skills with the ability to function in a team environment and work in collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and other community leaders is critical. Strong group facilitation skills are critical. Demonstrated ability to effectively implement prevention initiatives with diverse populations in a culturally responsive and respectful manner is required. Excellent communication and documentation skills, attention to detail, computer skills, organization, and time management skills are required. The position also requires a flexible schedule and local travel.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk, using the phone, and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Valid Drivers license required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expand the capacity of program prevention work by identifying, recruiting, supporting, training, informing, and retaining volunteer membership to the relevant initiatives.
  • Assist with coordinating and implementing regular coalition meetings and trainings alongside other program staff.
  • Research, plan, and implement best-practice prevention initiatives informed by the Strategic Prevention Framework.
  • Support the monitoring of grant funded prevention projects - including those implemented by coalition members, deliverables, and reporting in accordance with grant requirements.
  • Assist with the collection and development of program-specific data collection, documentation, and reporting.
