Job Description: In this role, the Prevention Specialist will deliver prevention services in schools and community settings to children, youth, parents, and families. The job duties of a Prevention Specialist involve working with and educating children and teens on skills that promote emotional and behavioral well-being in schools.

Schedule Details: Part-Time Monday through Friday, some evenings and weekends

Location: York, PA

Program: Prevention Planning

Pay Rate: $17+/hour

Job Functions:

* You will prepare and implement skill-building programming in schools K-12 that will encourage positive behaviors

* In our adult education programs, we focus on building healthy parenting skills for families, with specific services for parents of infants and young children.

* You will work in a variety of community settings (including, but not limited to, homes, schools, summer camps, and prisons) providing education sessions to support York County Children, Youth, and Families.

* Establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with schools, community members, community support service representatives, and agencies.

* Develop the knowledge and skills to effectively implement prevention programming in schools and community settings.

* Report incidents through the incident management system in a timely and effective manner.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: B.A. in education/or health discipline or a minimum of 2 years experience working with youth or

families in a related setting

Experience: Prior experience working with youth or families

Licensure/Certifications: None Required

Clearances: Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal clearance, and verification that the employee is not on any Medicaid/Medicare Exclusion list

Note: At the discretion of the Personnel Officer, additional related experience and/or education may be substituted instead of the requirements specified under Education and Experience
