Position Description
Employees in this position provide general administrative supervision to prevention specialists, performing tasks related to the care of students placed in school based prevention activities. This employee supervises prevention programs including record keeping. They may coordinate and/or provide parent and faculty education and plan for student follow up through the school, community and family systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* Supervise the assessment of students referred to prevention programs.
* Working cooperatively and effectively with county schools.
* Working cooperatively and effectively with community resources.
* Supervising completion of required documentation.
* Acting as a resource for other staff members.
* Designing and implementing in-service education.
* Performs other reasonable and related duties as requested by the immediate supervisor or other administrative personnel.
Minimum Training and Experience
* Requires a master's degree in a social or behavioral science and at least five (5) years experience providing social services to children, adolescents or families. The Prevention Specialist Supervisor needs to have a thorough understanding of risk and protective factors, along with knowledge of child development.
* Requires knowledge of all aspects of prevention, including experience in parent education, group dynamics and multi-cultural sensitivity.
* Requires skill in working effectively with disinterested, disruptive or unsuccessful students, applying problem solving techniques, adapting to change, and consulting with teachers, guidance counselors and school administrators.
