OverviewThe Preview Worker is responsible for any/all assistance of our specialist departments here at Bonhams NY with namely administrative tasks and slight art handling duties - but the role finds itself to be much more diverse as the Preview Worker will be assisting with a multitude and variety of tasks.These particular departmental tasks may and will include: Inventorying sale lots Hands on working with lots and taking/inputting measurements of such. Unpacking and packing of artwork Assisting depts with condition images Polishing silver Calling department lists to remind customers of upcoming previews.The Preview Worker will also take on a vital part of exhibition setup with tasks that include: Helping department specialists with setting up cases/tables/pedestals and any area of general exhibition planning Assisting clients with viewing auctions items inside and outside of display cases. Answer general non-technical questions Provide quality customer service. Monitoring the galleries and the gallery items to ensure safety protocols are being metIn addition to the tasks and responsibilities listed, the Preview Worker may be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.Required Skills Excellent communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills. Excellent customer services skills and desire to work with the public. Enthusiastic and calm under pressure, with a common sense approach. Committed, reliable and capable of working well as part of a team. Fluency in English necessary. Ability and willingness to be flexible with working hours. Business attire required. Interest in Jewelry, Fine Art, Antiques, and Collectibles. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions. Must be multi-functional and able to shift priorities quickly and easily.
