Position Purpose Summary:

Develop, deploy, and analyze pricing strategies that lead to the measurable attainment of business goals and increase price maturity within the organization through influence, persistence, and sharing best practices. Analysis includes strategy projection and actual impact using the relationship between price and volume and differentiation to maximize opportunities and adapting strategies as needed. Be a trusted business partner to the assigned Regional Vice President and support sales and product managers to implement pricing across multiple product lines and customers.

KEY TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Understands the company's vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.

* Supports the company's margin and pricing strategic plans / profitability goals. Looks for consistency between the sales and pricing strategies. Establishes pricing programs aligned with product / sales strategy and revenue recognition requirements.

* Quantifiably estimate financial impact and measure and report actual impact and side effects of price / strategy changes.

* Analyze customer and product combination to ensure discounts (programs and overrides) and rebates are properly invested.

* Maintain world class price hygiene and address issues / trends with a root cause analysis and correction.

* Help teammates adapt the best practices playbook to their unique market

* Develop business tools for decision-making processes to maintain pricing competitiveness and maximize profits.

* Designs and performs timely price analyses. Conduct pricing reviews for the business units served.

* Prepare sales reports to identify profit opportunities. Compile documentation to support impact of price and market changes.

* Understand all pricing programs and ensure accuracy and consistent application. Enter, maintain and update the system pricing in a timely fashion.

* Assist with standardizing operating procedures for various pricing functions.

* Troubleshoot pricing anomalies and inconsistencies.

* Question low margin or errors from Sales on margin tool. Communicate with Sales Managers. Maintains current knowledge of relevant pricing procedures and practices.

* Provides training for all pricing systems for the business units served.

* Span of Control (including # of direct reports): Individual contributor or may have a small number of direct reports. Has significant indirect responsibilities in getting work done through others across the organization.

* Decision Making / Autonomy: Decision-making subject to practices and procedures covered by precedent, policies and professional standards

* Financial Authority: Contributes to development of an operating plan and budget. May manage parts of budget

* Problem Complexity: Problems are highly complex and solutions require detail analysis and extensive investigation.

* Influencing / People Leadership: Ability to build consensus and be appropriately diplomatic, understands others' roles and perspectives, can sell projects and ideas externally and across the organization. Influences others by presenting a strong case. Builds cross-functional relationships to build consensus/create results. Measure and communicate neighboring successes.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

* Certifications: Six Sigma, Certified Pricing Professional a plus

* Education Requirements: BA / BS in Business, Finance, Economics or related field preferred. MBA preferred.

* Years of Experience: 7 years of experience in B2B pricing or product management. 5+ years with a master's degree. 4 years of experience in building material distribution

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

* Advanced influential skills are required to increase price maturity within assigned branches.

* Background in quantitative statistical analysis, economics, and forecasting techniques ideally in a commodity industry.

* Must possess strong analytical and mathematical skills

* Strong planning and organization skills are required.

* Must be able to work well under pressure and effectively balance multiple and rapidly shifting priorities.

* Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate clear communications of results within the sales organization.

* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

* Ability to apply analytical rigor to understand complex business scenarios

* Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Software and relevant pricing tools / technology.
