Join our community and experience Emerson College!Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Primary Assistant Coach will help run the Men & Women's Tennis program at Emerson College. The primary responsibility of this position is to attend events where recruits participate and identify, engage, and recruit qualified student-athletes who fit Emerson's profile and the team's needs. The Assistant Coach will be responsible for developing student-athletes, scouting teams, breaking down game films, and organizing and facilitating practice and games.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Assists with all aspects of the recruitment and retention of a diverse set of prospective student-athletes, such as prospect evaluation, prospect selection, and on-campus visits
  • Assists head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team training and match competitions.
  • Assists in identifying and recruiting potential student-athletes for the Emerson intercollegiate sports program following NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards.
  • Leads, monitors, and coordinates training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance, assistance, and support to other assistant coaches regarding coaching training sessions and individual player techniques.
  • Aids in the coordination and administration of the overall program, as required.
  • Represents the Emerson College and the athletic department to various institutional programs and externally to the media, students, parents, and the general public.
  • Assist with coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop players' technical ability and team tactical solutions.
  • Analyze the performance of our team, individual players, and our opponents.
  • Provide leadership and instruction to improve the team and the individual player.
  • Mentor student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional and social growth
  • Monitor the progress of prospective players during the application process.
  • Assist in coordinating and organizing potential player on-campus visits.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the post-secondary level, professional competitive experience or college playing experience required
  • A valid driver's license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - This may be representative but not all-inclusive of the knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical skills and tactical strategy and the ability to teach and communicate with players effectively.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and NEWMAC rules and an understanding of their philosophy.
  • The coach must be self-directed, motivated, and able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Commitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department and the College community, and the ability to influence the athletes to do the same.
