We are looking for an accomplished Principal Electrical Engineer to become a vital part of our innovative team. In this role, you will spearhead the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge power electronic systems and components intended for high-reliability applications in both Navy and commercial sectors. Your expertise will play a key role in driving innovation and ensuring the performance, reliability, and sustainability of mission-critical applications.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish technical requirements and specifications aligned with project objectives and customer expectations.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical direction, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of power electronic systems, including converters, inverters, and control systems.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, to create integrated power electronic solutions.
- Execute design verification, testing, and validation processes to ensure adherence to customer and contract specifications as well as performance standards.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses, simulations, and modeling of power electronic circuits and systems.
- Integrate Design for X (DfX) methodologies—such as Design for Cost, Design for Test, and Design for Manufacturability—into product development.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to power electronics design processes and methodologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related discipline; an advanced degree (MBA or PhD) is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in designing and developing power electronic systems, with a focus on power conversion or electric drives.
- Must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards set by the DoD, with the potential for obtaining necessary security clearance promptly after starting the role.
- In-depth expertise in high-frequency switching power converters, inverters, and DC/DC converters.
- Experience in medium voltage design is ideal.
- Familiarity with military standards regarding power quality and EMI is ideal.
- Proficient in using simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, MathCAD, PSpice, or similar software.
- Knowledge of OSHA and NFDA 70E Electrical Safe Work practices is preferred.
- Strong foundation in thermal management, EMI considerations, and reliability engineering practices.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities with the ability to diagnose complex issues effectively.
- Background in digital control systems for power electronics is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various teams and functions.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing engineering teams and projects.
- Experience in designing magnetic components is ideal.
