Hybrid - New York City, Brooklyn (In the office 3 days a week or as agreed)

Salary flexible depending upon seniority - indicative range $130,000 - $160,000.

Eunomia work a nine-day two-week schedule , full time employees have a 3-day weekend every other week.

Summary of the Role:

This is a new position within an expanding team. It is an exciting opportunity to join the growing North America based team to have influence and impact across project deliverables and staff development.

You will provide technical leadership and direction in areas predominantly related to the circular economy but also in areas such as decarbonization and the natural economy. You will manage a small technical team which consists of analysts and modelers, supporting their growth, providing technical guidance, and putting in place processes to ensure the quality of our analyses. You will work closely with the team in the UK linking into the company's technical council which consists of technical leaders from across the business.

You will work alongside colleagues to design and deliver projects that meet clients' needs. You will be involved in or lead multiple projects at once. On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Liaise with clients to understand their needs and synthesize these into tangible project methods and goals
  • Develop methodologies to answer clients complex questions related to the ciruclar economy, decarbonizing supply chains and other sustainability topics
  • Supervise technical teams including developing technical work streams within a project, reviewing and guiding model designs and approving all technical outputs
  • Design and present deliverables to clients that focus on key messages while providing the necessary clarity on assumptions and methods
  • Work flexibly on many projects at a time across several areas - apply your areas of expertise to fields you are less familiar with and show an ability and willingness to learn new ideas and topics at high speed

Our perfect candidate will have experience in the majority of these areas:

  • 10 years post graduate experience in undertaking material flows, policy and program environmental, social and economy cost benefit impact assessment, environmental appraisals, systems mapping.
  • Management of quantitative work and assessments, knowledge of different relevant data sources and ability to interpret, validate and manipulate and triangulate different data sources.
  • Ability to help develop complex systems-based models.
  • Deep understanding of waste and resource management systems in North America
  • Demonstratable experience of critiquing assumptions and methodologies and being able to carry out detailed reviews of calculations, as well as undertake cutting edge analysis in areas that haven't been fully researched before.
  • Able to apply systems thinking approaches to understanding a problem and determining solutions that can then be modelled to understand benefit and impact.
  • Senior level experience gained in a Consultancy setting (although if highly relevant, then your background could be government / academic).
  • A desire to support the further technical development of teams; you will be able to demonstrate a track record in leading a technical team and developing the next generation of critical, technically oriented thinkers in this space.
  • Commercial experience – business development / client management in the private sector and/or ability to write competitive tenders in the public sector.
  • Understanding the impact of plastics in the environment.
  • Experience managing junior and mid-career professionals
  • Relevant experience of carbon accounting in at least some of Eunomia's core markets – particularly circular economy / waste, and packaging materials production; potentially natural environment, electronics, textiles.
  • Understanding of and ability to model waste and resource management systems in the global south
  • Experience with GIS, Python and R
  • Experience with data visualization platforms.
  • Experience of working within a consultancy business model
  • Well-versed at public speaking including on webinars and can deliver technical content to a diverse audience.
  • A strong network within the circular economy sector
