As a Principal HR Consultant, you will lead and drive comprehensive classification and compensation projects for a diverse range of clients. This senior-level position requires a seasoned HR professional with experience in classification and compensation practices, project management, and a proven ability to navigate the complexities of the public sector. This position will be responsible for supervising a team of staff and project consultants.Typical job functions include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct in-depth classification studies, job audits, and position allocations for various organizations.
  • Design and implement effective classification concepts and structures ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
  • Leading and supervising project teams, overseeing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
  • Develop and refine classification specifications, job descriptions and compensation strategies.
  • Utilize advanced analytical skills to interpret and analyze data, providing insightful recommendations to clients.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, foster positive relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Provide expert guidance on classification and compensation matters, demonstrating a deep understanding of HR principals and practices.
  • Lead client presentations and discussions, effectively conveying complex information to diverse audiences, including but not limited to project needs; outline scope of work, project timelines, and cost estimates; prepare proposals, letters of agreement, and contracts.
Schedule This role is a regular full-time position requiring 40+ hours a week. Travel RequirementsThis is a 100% remote position. The headquarters for this role are based out of Sacramento, California.THE TEAMThe Classification and Compensation team at CPS HR excels in conducting comprehensive classification studies tailored to organizations of varying sizes. This encompasses the formulation of innovative classification concepts and structures, meticulous job audits, precise allocation of positions to their respective classifications, and the crafting or refinement of classification specifications. Our team offers clients the flexibility to review entire systems, specific groups, or individual classifications within an organization, ensuring their alignment with the nature of the work being performed.   • HR Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in HR management with a focus on classification and compensation functions.
  • Project Management: Proven record of successfully managing large-scale classification and compensation projects.
  • Public Sector Experience: Knowledge of federal, state, or local government laws, rules, policies, and procedures and experience in multiple public sector organizations.
  • Analytical and Research skills: Exceptional analytical and research capabilities and methodologies for project analysis and decision making.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortably with technology and quick to adapt to new platforms and tools.
  • Team Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
