Position Overview:

We are looking to expand our medical team by hiring a Principal Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Medical Affairs group, reporting directly to the Head of North America Medical Affairs. The title of Principal MSL reflects the seniority and responsibility of the role, with final adjustments based on the candidate's experience.

Location:

This is a remote position, ideally based in the Western U.S. (CA, CO, UT, AZ, or neighboring states), with a preference for candidates near major travel hubs to facilitate frequent and efficient travel. The selected candidate will cover approximately one-third of the continental U.S., focusing on engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals (HCPs) at major hospitals and rare disease centers. We offer a flexible hybrid work environment, allowing employees to work from home and virtually.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a field-based extension of the Medical Affairs team.
  • Proactively identify and address the scientific exchange needs of KOLs, investigators, HCPs, regional payers, and government stakeholders, aligned with strategic territory plans.
  • Ensure compliant communication and education on the company's product portfolio, including the creation and distribution of standard responses in collaboration with Medical Communications.
  • Collaborate with Medical, Clinical Development, and Clinical Operations teams to design and execute scientific programs, advisory boards, and other events.
  • Partner with Medical and Commercial teams to provide scientific support to payer organizations.
  • Support investigators involved in clinical and observational studies, as well as investigator-sponsored research.
  • Stay current on relevant disease areas and MSL best practices, ensuring continuous learning and professional development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with HCPs/KOLs, ensuring accurate and compliant documentation within the customer relationship management system (e.g., Veeva), including key medical insights shared with internal teams.
  • Provide training to Commercial and Medical colleagues as needed.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, such as developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify and propose process improvements aligned with business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: MD, PharmD, or PhD.
  • Considered: Master's degree, Nurse Practitioner (NP), or MPH with strong relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of MSL experience, with a focus on rare diseases and field-based scientific exchange. Clinical trial support experience is a plus.
  • Preference for candidates with experience working in small start-up or emerging biopharma companies, where processes and roles evolve.
  • Expertise in rare immunology, with a focus on allergy, immunology, and immunodeficiency is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage in scientific discussions with KOLs and colleagues.
  • Proven experience creating and delivering scientific presentations to HCPs, payers, and other stakeholders, both virtually and in-person.
  • Ability to assess resource availability and suggest solutions when priorities conflict.
  • A positive, problem-solving attitude, even in challenging situations.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant guidelines and regulations.
  • Willingness to travel regularly (up to 80%) and work weekends when needed.
  • Clean and valid driver's license.
