Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., is recruiting for a Principal Scientist, Environmental Stewardship located in Skillman, NJ.

As the Principal Scientist Environmental Stewardship, y ou will be part of the Global Ingredient Management & Stewardship team, lead ingredient environmental strategy, coordinate Consumer Health environmental products compliance and be the subject matter expert on product overall environmental impact.
You have a robust background on environmental science, a passion for sustainability and want to drive change and lead actions to protect our planet and support design of more sustainable solutions for consumers.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Responsible for identifying, implementing, and governing key pillars of our overall environmental ingredient strategy.
* Act as the key environment stewardship contact within the Consumer Health business and work closely with R&D, communication, regulatory, marketing and claims group to support external communications.
* Collaborate closely with Ingredient Management & Stewardship team members and internal stakeholders to ensure early anticipation and compliance to Environmental Product Compliance requirements.
* Represent Ingredient Management & Stewardship team in internal and external forums supporting global ingredient strategy, global sustainability strategy and advocate for evidence-science based through external engagement.
* Key business deliverables include environmental regulatory clearances, environmental risk assessments management, maintaining ingredient environmental scores, recommendation on ingredient based on environmental profile and assessing impact of environmental product compliance requirements in partnership with regional team.
**Qualifications**
**Education:**
* A minimum of a MS in Environmental Science required, a PhD is preferred
**Required:**
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar sustainability role
* Knowledge of ecotoxicology, sustainability and environmental risk assessment required
* Knowledge of global environmental product regulations required
* Understanding of ingredients/chemicals required
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Proven leadership and transversal team management experience
* Ability to work in cross-cultural and cross-functional environment.
* Works independently while possessing strong leadership & collaboration skills
**Preferred:**
* Familiarity with product stewardship concepts
* Experience in consumer goods company (ideally personal care products and/or OTC)
* Environmental Products regulations knowledge
