The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to play a critical role in the development of our Land Electronics business unit products. You will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team. This position is for a systems engineer; having knowledge of both software and hardware disciplines. This position is located on-site at our Melbourne, FL facility (hybrid work schedule).We pride ourselves on our culture of friendliness and teamwork here at DRS. We offer an exciting and challenging work environment, a competitive salary and benefits package, and a business culture that rewards performance.Job Responsibilities Work with stakeholders, product owners, development teams, and production teams, developing system level CONOPs and system requirements.Lead/oversee system integration, test integration and test planning efforts.Involved with the analysis, design, development, and implementation of new and/or existing systems/sub-systems. May include Architectural Design, Requirements Engineering, or others. Determine system specifications.Perform Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) related activities as needed on programs.Responsible for leading groups of engineers on technical activities and completion of those activities on time and budget.Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems.May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments. Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.Develop prototypes to retire key development risks.Participate in preparation of proposals.Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.Lead and direct the work of others as assigned.Preferred Qualifications Experience with any or all of the following: C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management, and combat vehicle integration products and services.Experience with developing and managing requirements.Experience with DOORS requirements management tool and Cameo Systems Modeler.Experience with integration and test of battle management systems.Ability to lead a technical group independently.Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 8 years of experience.U.S. Citizenship required.
