Salary: $17.55 Hourly Location : San Antonio, TX Job Type: Part-time Regular Job Number: 2024-01096 Department: Facilities Management Opening Date: 04/03/2024 Closing Date: Continuous Summary Under general supervision, is responsible for technical support, producing printed material to include copies, special prints, binding and finishing in accordance to customer specifications and department quality standards and procedures while operating efficiently. Will review print specifications, calibrate color on printers, identify and fix or report problems with printing equipment, and assemble prints as needed. Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews job orders to determine quantities to be printed, paper specifications, and special printing instructions; will also reject poor quality or incorrect jobs and notify supervisor for corrections
- Maintains and tracks inventory of printing materials and supplies; maintains a clean work environment and a professional appearance; and maintains strict confidentiality relative to clients, client projects, company financials, etc.
- Prepares and operates printing machines and other print shop equipment; prepares printing materials for pickup or delivery as required
- Maintains optimal machine performance by correcting simple machine problems (clearing jams and refilling toner); sets printer specifications as needed in accordance with hardware systems and procedural manual
- Performs minor preventive maintenance as required, reports all issues to supervisor and contact vendor for assessments, maintenance and repairs as necessary
- Transfers files and proof images electronically or as required by sending files from the network to equipment
- Ensures deadlines are met by working at a quick and steady pace while maintaining quality/error free work
- Cuts material to special dimensions, fitting and gluing material to foam boards by hand or machine; binds new books using machine or by hand
- Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate
- Some knowledge of print shop processes, procedures and techniques
- Excellent skills in organization, customer service, math, and have familiarity with personal computer, Internet, Microsoft Office, Adobe and various Data Software
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to work in a fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and County employees, Elected Officials, and Department Heads
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background check and clearance investigation
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license
- Must be able and willing to attend training at department's discretion
- Fast-paced environment; subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity
- Must be able to work flexible work schedules
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- Working conditions are primarily indoors with occasional outdoor exposure
- Constant exposure to noise, exposure to ink, chemical/Solvent fumes and airborne particles, such as, paper dust and drying powder
- Frequently moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 50-70 pounds
- Frequently moves about the office
- Frequently stands for long periods of time
