We have partnered with a client in Sandusky who is currently seeking to hire a lead printing press operator to join their team. Job Title: Lead Printing Press OperatorLocation: Sandusky, OHShift: 2 nd or 3 rd working 10 hour shifts Mon-Thurs, (flexible start time after 2 pm and off by 6 am and flexible days either 5 8 hour days or 4 10 hour days)(training on 1 st shift Mon-Thur 10 hour days)Salary: $23 an hour to start, moving to $24 after 90 daysRESPONSIBILITIES ARE LISTED BELOW BUT NOT LIMITED TO:Sets up, operates, adjusts and maintains printing press to maintain required quality and quantity of production.REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) a plus
- Knowledge of Offset printing press and ability to set up and run machinery
- Reliable attendance and ability to work in a state of alertness that is required to consistently complete assigned work in a safe manner.
- Performs quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Interacts professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers and works effectively as a team contributor on all assignments or independently.
- Responsible for keeping work area neat and orderly and follows all 5S directives that are implemented while complying with all ISO Quality Policies and Procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to paperwork information per customer specs
- Accurately follows job bag information for each customer
- Precisely inputs production information into the manufacturing software following work instructions and using basic computer knowledge
- Uses Press Sign software or densitometer to check color density
- Sets up printer in a timely matter for printing of folded cartons
- Selects and mounts proper printing plate for job
- Fills ink fountains with appropriate color(s) and adjusts rate of flow of ink for quality printing in a timely fashion to meet customer specs
- Obtains supervisor approval for color and position of print
- Makes ink accurately and efficiently as needed.
- Runs job for production and follows job speed specs
- Starts and runs the printing press efficiently
- Constantly monitors job run for accuracy and clarity of printing
- Adjusts settings to ink viscosity; or shuts down press and makes adjustments so that the quality is to customer or standard specs
- Monitors viscosity of coating as needed and adjusts accordingly
- Removes stock from delivery after printing
- Troubleshoots quality problems involving supervisor when needed
- Performs maintenance
- Removes ink from rollers and fountains
- Completes machine maintenance according to maintenance schedule includes oiling/greasing
- Performs maintenance on machines including repairs on worn/damaged parts of equipment
- Ensures Maintenance Log on press computer is followed
- Notifies supervisor of reoccurring equipment malfunctions and of poor quality raw material
- Ensures work area is kept clean: tools returned to place, floors free from debris
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least three months in-house related experience and/or training or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior packaging printing press operator experience is desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with SPC employees verbally and in writing (such as email). Ability to enter data into a computer.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Possesses basic mechanical ability.
