Job Summary
Provide perinatal outreach education, as outlined in the DHEC Regional Perinatal contract.Essential Functions

Collaborates with RSD, nursing leadership and staff of referring hospitals to determine educational needs and develop strategies to meet those needs; works cooperatively with other healthcare leaders to develop, implement and evaluate quality programs to meet the needs of populations served; assists nursing leadership in improvement activities relative to clinical practice; serves as role model for staff and patient advocacy behaviors.
Develops and implements educational programs for perinatal staff in Level I, II, III hospitals, DHEC, community health staff, ED/EMS, and other private/public perinatal healthcare providers, based on above needs assessment. Content should include, but is not limited to, appropriate care/stabilization of high-risk perinatal patients.
Evaluates the quality of care provided and identifies necessary changes within practice to ensure continuous quality improvement of patient/family care; consults and collaborates within and across Prisma Health-Upstate and the state to assure high-quality patient care, and access to risk-appropriate care; acts as liaison/consultant within Prisma Health and the community to promote and enhance communication and cooperation, as related to improving perinatal outcomes.
Collaborates with perinatal providers in the region/state, including RPC staff, to increase staff skills and knowledge in the area of clinical practice, critical thinking, and problem-solving to promote improved perinatal outcomes. This includes, but is not limited to, state-wide perinatal initiatives, such as BOI (Birth Outcomes Initiative), state-wide SimCOACH training, etc.
Works collaboratively with Prisma Health-Upstate Regional Systems Developer to complete all DHEC deliverables, as specified in the Regional Perinatal contract. Serves as liaison with other organizations and programs dedicated to improving perinatal outcomes in region and state.
Provide admission and discharge follow-up information for referral hospitals and maintains the OB Admissions sections of the Perinatal Systems database, required by DHEC contract.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience - Three (3) years direct care of OB/Neonatal patients.

Licensed to practice as a RN - REGISTERED NURSE in S.C.
AHWONN EFM Instructor - preferred. If not AHWONN EFM Instructor at hire, required to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency with appropriate perinatal patient care equipment preferred.
