IT Privacy & Compliance Consultant
Job Details
- Compensation: Up to $100/hour with weekly compensation and benefits offered
- Type: Contract (18+ months)
- 100% Remote
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive compliance efforts for privacy regulations
- Act as a subject matter expert on data governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and implement strategic frameworks for privacy, data protection, IT governance, data governance, and vendor management initiatives.
- Conduct enterprise-wide privacy and data protection risk assessments, including gap analyses and risk remediation, across IT, business, and legal functions.
- Oversee data mapping for applications and vendors, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Perform ongoing process enhancement to improve privacy, data protection, and compliance efforts.
- Liaise between legal, IT, and business stakeholders to address privacy and compliance-related issues.
- Prepare and deliver high-level communications and presentations for C-suite executives.
- Support vendor management initiatives to ensure compliance with data privacy and security requirements.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to privacy and data protection.
- Stay informed about evolving privacy laws and implement practices to ensure state-specific compliance.
Job Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years in IT governance, privacy, compliance, or legal roles.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong expertise in CCPA and GDPR; familiarity with other state-specific privacy regulations (e.g., CPA, CPRA, UCPA, VCDPA).
- Technical Knowledge: Broad understanding of compliance, security, risk management, and IT deployments.
- Skills: Strong ability to perform risk assessments, data protection assessments, and gap analyses.
- Communication: Proven experience preparing C-suite communications and presentations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to act as a liaison between legal, IT, and business teams, and to address privacy and compliance challenges holistically.
- Industry Experience: Open to candidates from diverse industries; automotive experience not required.
- Certifications (Preferred): CIPP/US, CIPM, or related privacy certifications are a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, proactive mindset, and the ability to manage multiple compliance initiatives simultaneously.
