About Storr Group

Storr Group is a rapidly growing, operationally-oriented private equity firm that focuses on control-oriented investments in the lower middle market. The firm builds and scales best-in-class platforms across the United States, elevating industries for consumers, employees, and key stakeholders. Storr is highly acquisitive, and predominantly operates within fragmented, high-margin services sectors, creating value through consolidation and our methodical Storr Business Systems playbook, which drives operational excellence, industry-leading growth, and technology transformation. Storr Group has executed close to 100 investments across its platforms and is proud to have a world-class bench of operators, investors, and advisors.

Role Overview

This role offers a unique blend of operational immersion and investment experience. You will begin with a 12-month immersion into our portfolio companies, gaining first-hand experience in our operational strategies and processes. Afterward, you will transition to evaluating and targeting new investment opportunities in a traditional private equity investment associate role, leveraging this operational knowledge to develop and execute investment theses in our target industries.

This is a unique opportunity to work closely with seasoned operators and investors in a high-velocity, hands-on environment in a career-track role, and to develop expertise in private equity, operations, and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Immersion (First 12 Months):

  • Engage deeply with our portfolio companies to understand their operational processes, key growth drivers, and challenges while actively contributing to strategic initiatives and driving value creation alongside the company's leadership
  • Support portfolio management efforts by identifying opportunities for operational improvements, cost efficiencies, and margin expansion
  • Evaluate and execute add-on M&A opportunities to accelerate growth within existing platforms

Investment Evaluation & Execution (Post 12-Month Transition):

  • Develop and refine investment theses, perform sector research, and target new platform opportunities
  • Lead financial analysis, market research, and due diligence on investment opportunities
  • Assist in deal structuring, negotiation, and closing of transactions
  • Draft investment memos and present recommendations to the investment committee
  • Support ongoing portfolio management and identify opportunities for value creation through organic and inorganic strategies
  • Build and maintain relationships with portfolio company leaders as well as industry stakeholders, including investment banks, due diligence providers, and LPs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preference for Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another quantitative major
  • 1-3 years of prior experience in investment banking or private equity
  • Strong technical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Highly motivated team player who is able to multitask well and can remain patient and flexible in an ever-changing environment
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, professional maturity, integrity, and always exercises discretion

Location

This role will be based in our Austin, TX office and portfolio company offices (also in the Austin Metropolitan area), after which the position will transition permanently to our New York City office.
