Internship Description

The successful candidate will work closely with the President of one of Coleville Partners' portfolio companies during the fall/winter of 2024. Coleville Partners is seeking a motivated candidate interested in private equity and business. We are hiring from MBA programs at leading universities, and prior experience is preferred. The intern will be working in operations (claims, underwriting, and marketing/distribution) on projects including process and systems mapping and documentation, control environment review, systems and enterprise applications review, process re-engineering and implementation, vendor mapping, identifying, interviewing, and hiring IT partners. The intern will work closely with the company President to develop an understanding of the company's IT infrastructure and in turn, the current systems' capabilities, and identify where investments need to be made to enable future organic (and inorganic) growth. Insurance/warranty industry experience is not required since the intern will learn this from the company's President who is an industry veteran.

What the Internship Will Offer

The successful candidate can expect to receive the following from their internship:

· An understanding of businesses and industries through a private equity lens

· Daily one-on-one time with a portfolio company President

· Experience working on a private equity deal that involves a complex corporate carve-out, and a turnaround of an underperforming business

· An immediate impact – the intern's work product will be a key input in leadership's decision-making on how much and where to invest in the company's IT infrastructure (processes, systems, and controls)

o Must enable the business to scale dramatically in an organic (increased volume with current products, and new product launches) and inorganic way (through acquisitions)

· If the candidate does not have direct experience in private equity, insurance, warranty or residential services, they can expect to attain a deep understanding of these industries from this internship

Responsibilities and Duties

· Map and document all operating processes, systems, and controls in the company's marketing/distribution, underwriting, and claims departments (down to the use case level)

o Map to business requirements to understand the operating systems' current capabilities

· Review and provide an assessment of the control environment for senior management

· Review all IT applications and suggest ideas for improvements

o Recommend better applications for the business based on management's turnaround and growth plans

· Reengineer, redesign, and implement new processes and systems that are aligned with the company's growth plans and IT budget

· Identify potential IT partners/vendors for the business, establish vetting criteria, interview a shortlist, and make recommendations to senior management

· Calculate the company's 2025 IT budget alongside the company President

· For each recommendation provided to senior management during the internship, provide the investment case

Requirements

· Undergrad degree in an applicable field of study; MBA candidates preferred with a consulting, IT or operations background (minimum of 3-4 years professional experience)

· Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

o The intern will be expected to re-write certain content marketing, and marketing messaging from their findings and a new understanding of the business

· Positive personality and a ‘can-do' mentality – a proactive approach to work

· Work ethic & integrity – willing to go above and beyond; Innately humble, trustworthy and responsive

· An interest in business system engineering and operations

· Comfortable using MS Office suite of products

· Must be eligible to work in the US without the need for sponsorship
