Job Description:

San Francisco-based life science and healthcare-focused venture capital firm is looking for an experienced consultant to assist firm's partners with a variety of ad hoc research and support projects.

Role would begin on a part-time contract basis with the possibility of conversion to a full-time role.

Primary project responsibilities include but not limited to:

Geographic Searches: A team member of the firm intends to be in a particular city for a meeting. While there, would like to identify life science and healthcare companies, industry organizations, educational/research centers, other venture groups and executives in the geography. Resource would identify companies, organizations and individuals and using template language provided by this, reach out to them. Once initial contact is made, responses can be handled by the firm itself.

Expert Resources: This firm is considering an investment and could use expert to help with analyzing an opportunity (Gerson Lehrman model). Use LinkedIn, Google searches and proprietary databases used by this firm to identify experts and reach out to them to determine interest in participating in subject matter review. Again, once initial contact is made the firm can respond to interested parties.

Light touch recruiting: One of the firms portfolio companies is interested in hiring/replacing a role. Generate a list of profiles from relevant companies. This would not be a total recruiting effort but rather would just provide LinkedIn profiles of a universe of possible candidates so that the company could better refine its search. Could also help with mapping companies that might be good sources for a particular candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing:

  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, key players, and potential targets related to the firms prospective investments.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective subject matter experts leads through proactive outreach and networking.
  • Utilize industry reports, databases, and networking events to gather relevant information.
  • Anticipate and track future events and coordinate meetings with relevant individuals to help forge meaningful business relationships for the firm.
  • Facilitate introductions between vetted contacts and the appropriate THP Investment professional.

Research

  • Perform supplementary research on potential investment targets, including financial performance, market position, and strategic fit.
  • Analyze industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes to provide actionable insights.

Database Management:

  • Manage and update the firms contact database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Implement data management best practices to maintain the integrity and quality of the database.
  • Create concise notes from initial conversations with prospects within an agreed upon format

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather and verify information.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to the firm's partners and stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of due diligence materials and investment proposals.
