Responsibilities A Center for Positive ChangeColumbus Behavioral Center for Children and Adolescents provides mental health services to males and females ages 8 to 18. Located in the greater Columbus, Indiana area, our 57-bed facility provides support to each child and teen that walks through the doors. We work with the resident, family and community partners to promote a smooth transition back into the home or, if necessary, an additional appropriate level of care.The trained professionals at our center provide safe and individualized treatment goals for each patient. Our Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) increases the development of behavioral skills that can help patients build relationships, manage emotions and cope more effectively with various life problems. In addition, our residential treatment program offers a balance of therapy, education and fun activities in a safe, structured setting.We focus on the needs and safety of our patients with 24-hour licensed staff supervision, which includes registered nurses.The National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance), a public-private partnership, has partnered with Columbus Behavioral Center for Children and Adolescents, to strengthen the country's clinical capacity to provide innovative suicide prevention and care. The partnership significantly advances one of the central priorities of the Action Alliance-to transform health systems and reduce suicides-and marks Columbus Behavioral Center for Children and Adolescents' commitment to be at the leading edge of the transformation.The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from late childhood through late adolescence depending on which unit worked. The Mental Health Tech spends their time on the unit, ensuring the safety of the residents and offering encouragement and guidance so that the resident can be in compliance with programming. Mental Health Technicians work under the direction of the Direct Care Supervisor. Non-exempt position.This position is an as needed (PRN) position. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic field is preferred. Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred. Licensure: Must maintain a valid Indiana driver's license. Additional Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age. CPR and First Aid certification and successful completion of HWC within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in a seclusion/restraint intervention. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours. Hours of Work: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.; 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.; other times as indicated by immediate supervisorMUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE.
