Prepares reports, correspondence and legal documents. Researche records of record room and IBM terminal. Schedules court hearings and meetings. Answers numerous questions from public, attorneys, and other career professionals. Performs various other tasks as required.Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check and will be subject to a pre-employment physical. Essential Job Functions
Prepares and manages a cauldron of court cases and legal documents.This includes legal document preparation, coordinating Judge's calendar with attorneys, and preparing court files for recordation.Prepares billing and receipts money.Balances daily receipts.Any other duties assigned by Probate Judge or Probate Court Administrator III. Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.Two (2) years of legal experience in a court position or attorney's office required.Other Characteristics
Be willing to travel to attend workshops, conferences, seminars, etc. out of town as needed.Be willing to work overtime, non-standard hours or weekends to complete work within specific time period. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Verbal skills to communicate effectively with office staff, attorneys and general public.Math skills to perform basic mathematical operations.Writing skills to clearly and neatly complete forms, reports, legal documents, etc.Reading skills to read and understand codes, regulations and policies.*Knowledge of county rules, policies, and regulations.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, supervisors, other employees, general public and attorneys.Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions in accordance with department policies and procedures.Ability to operate office machines such as copy machine, calculator, typewriter, P.C., election equipment and laser printers.Knowledge of filing systems.Essential Physical Skills(In cases of physical handicap, reasonable accommodations will be made.)
