Our client is seeking a Process Chemist responsible for quality and process control testing. This role involves gravimetric wet testing and instrumental analytical testing to ensure our products meet the highest standards. The Process Chemist will work closely with plant operators, supervisors, and management, contributing to research and development projects, process improvements, and safety programs.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Quality Control: Perform batch testing using various methods on different products and chemical families to ensure consistent results.
  • Process Control: Make decisions regarding raw material adjustments, temperature, mixing, and pressure changes.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Execute quality control testing semi-independently, analyze results, and report findings to management promptly.
  • Communication: Engage with plant operators and supervisors through regular tours and check batch log sheets.
  • R&D Participation: Support R&D and technical services projects by gathering materials, testing, and ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Sample Collection: Collect and prepare high-quality samples for customers and prepare shipments.
  • Lab Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Process Management: Assist in developing processes and safety programs and manage inventory reduction strategies.
  • Compliance: Follow safety regulations (RCRA, EPA, OSHA) and participate in safety training programs.
  • On-Call Support: Provide support during evenings and other designated times as required.
  • Teamwork and Initiative: Act as a functional team member, self-regulate work, and suggest safety and compliance improvements.
  • Additional Duties: Complete other tasks as assigned by management.
Placement Criteria
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelors degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
    • 1-5 years of experience in an analytical lab or a similar role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in gravimetric and analytic techniques.
    • Experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, with knowledge of the thermoset polymer industry as a plus.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Communication:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and instrumental software.
    • Familiarity with SAGE Platinum for Windows is preferred.
