Job Summary
The Process Control and Automation Specialist works alongside other Process Control team members to provide boots on ground and first-line support for Selkirk industrial control systems. The scope of this support includes field hardware, control software, and applications. Daily activities could include troubleshooting hardware, control logic and applications from various manufacturers such as Valmet/NovaTech D3 DCS, Emerson DeltaV DCS, GE PLCs, Emerson PLCs, SoftPLC, AspenTech IP21, and PlantTriage software. This position also provides support by attending scope development meetings with unit engineers, optimizing plant running conditions, investigating/improving control logic, participating in HAZOP reviews, and assisting in alarm management.
Basic electrical knowledge is required and completing additional electrical training may be needed though an offsite program to obtain the safety awareness and skills to perform job functions safely. The successful candidate will complete further educational training (as required), on the job training, and vendor training programs in order to learn the systems utilized on this manufacturing site. They must demonstrate self-initiative in acquisition of skills - seeking guidance from team members, working closely with other site teams, contacting vendors, reading literature, self-learning, etc.
