This position designs, maintains, optimizes and ensures reliability of the refinery control schemes and directs the activities of the process control systems.

Process Control Engineer Skills/Requirements
* BS degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
* Previous experience in electrical or process control in a continuous process industry
* Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
* Good interpersonal relations
* Excellent communication skills in verbal and written forms
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Highly proficient in technical applications and Microsoft products
Process Control Engineer Responsibilities
* Responsible for applications, hardware/software maintenance on the data archiving / plant information server. Work with groups affected on changes/improvements to be made. Maintain a current system backup of the data archive.
* Responsible for applications, hardware/software maintenance on the Delta V, BPCS and SIS. Work with groups affected on changes/improvements to be made. Maintain I / O list of points on the system. Maintain a current system backup on the data archive.
* Coordinate the activities of the design, installation, configuration, maintenance and operation of integrated control systems, both hardware and software.
* Design, implement and optimize controls and applications on the process control system.
* Troubleshoot basic network connectivity problems.
* Design, installation and maintenance of control system network and cybersecurity hardware.
* Maintain I / O list of points on system. Maintain a current backup of the configuration programming.
* Technical support for refinery operations includes special event coverage such as unit startups, shutdowns and other unusual operations.
* Responsible for hardware/software maintenance on the PLC engineering workstation. Maintains a current set of PLC/HMI applications on the workstation.
* Major and minor project leadership or support including but not limited to developing the technical details and the justification for MOC and AFE's, creating or supporting the development of technical specification sheets for detailed design, equipment, instruction and other items.
* Responsible for maintenance on the applications, hardware/software on the Bentley-Nevada vibration monitoring server class machine. Maintains a current backup of the online database.
* Provide technical assistance on special applications as related to overall control loop optimization or new installation. For example: valve/pump sizing and miscellaneous instrumentation.
* Reviews lifecycle of control system software/hardware and develops a recommended upgrade path.
* Assures necessary documentation is obtained/developed/maintained on the systems and applications to comply with Process Safety Management objectives.
* Coordinate or conduct training for affected groups on covered systems use and applications.
* Design, develop and maintain Alarm Management software applications. Includes state-based alarm actions as well as statistical reporting development.
* Design, develop and maintain Advanced Process Control applications.
* Support Process Safety and environmental responsibility initiatives.
* Actively participate in and purposefully contribute to hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA) tasks: PHA, HAZOP, PSSR, JSA, etc.
* Understanding site environmental obligations and impacts, identifying and reporting near hits, and supporting minimization and abatement efforts.
* Leading or actively participating in event investigations.
* Develop responses to HIRA and event investigation action items, coordinating, implementation, following up on response effectiveness and driving the audit trail to closure.
* Work with Operations group and Process Engineers to identify/develop cost saving opportunities through control enhancements.
* Develops good working relationships with all co-workers, contractors, and associates.
* Performs all tasks in accordance with plant safety guidelines and procedures with a heightened sense of awareness to maintain a safe work environment.
