Our highly automated, state-of-the-art mills require top level focus to keep operations running smoothly and drive new process technologies. Role: The selected candidate will work collaboratively with a team of talented Process Control Specialists to improve Weyerhaeuser's EWP manufacturing operations and lead new technology projects. Your background in engineering or technology combined with programming and problem-solving skills will be key to your success in this role. This position will be part of the EWP Process Control Group, and is a full-time, exempt position. The selected candidate must live in or relocate to Alabama, Arkansas or Louisiana preferably near Evergreen, AL, Emerson, AR, Natchitoches, LA or Zwolle, LA. The role is remotely based and with an expectation of travel to meet project and mill support needs. Key Activities:
  • Lead and assist on controls projects for existing and new equipment installations.
  • Apply data analytics to help drive higher value solutions, collaborate on business and technical level.
  • Work with mill maintenance teams to assist on control system hardware and software upgrades.
  • Assist as needed on capital project planning and execution.
  • Lead and assist on new process technology platforms.
Qualifications Experience: Minimum 5 years' work experience with control system development or maintenance, data handling systems, and (ideally) project management. You are able to analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues involving software, electrical and mechanical systems. Must be comfortable working in a heavy industrial environment. Education: You have a BS degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline, or equivalent qualifying experience in the controls field. Alternatively, an Associates degree and combined Process Control certifications will be considered. Drive: You are passionate about manufacturing processes, technology, optimization, and working in the wood products industry. Core Skills: Your work history demonstrates your ability to deliver valuable solutions to solve real manufacturing problems. Able to communicate issues and results to both technical and non-technical audiences, and effectively working with individuals and teams. You have a high level of initiative and the ability to excel with minimum supervision. Fosters positive energy, creativity, and teamwork with the goal of furthering the company values and to support the company mission. Technical Skills: You have good analytical skills and a strong working knowledge of electrical systems and at least one object-oriented programming language. Travel: You are able and willing to travel within the US and Canada, up to 50%. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Programming experience (i.e., VB.NET, Wonderware, Ignition, and Rockwell software)
  • Good understanding of process networks and data automation (i.e., Power BI, SQL Server, SCADA applications)
  • Knowledge of OT networking concepts and industry 4.0 topology modeling
  • Proficiency in integrated PLC motion control applications
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) application support
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Electrical license
  • P.E. license

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $95,000 to $171,800 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience.
