Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Review and evaluate new product procedures received from the Product Development (PD) Manager or R&D.
- Prepare lab batches for testing against R&D standards, collaborating closely with R&D chemists to resolve any issues.
- Suggest improvements for procedural adjustments for smoother future pilot scaling.
- Perform Quality Control sampling for lab batches and compile batch data to assist the PD Manager in decisions on further scale-up steps.
- Coordinate and dispatch product development samples as necessary.
- Support the PD Manager in overseeing pilot batch operations.
- Act as a resource for Quality Control and pilot team members, addressing inquiries about testing and manufacturing of pilot products based on product chemistry knowledge and lab experience.
- Assist with Quality Control testing and provide additional support for pilot operators (e.g., pastillation of pilot materials).
- Innovate and implement new methods to optimize production of current products, focusing on profit enhancement, waste reduction, quality, and environmental compliance.
- Conduct multiple lab batches as needed to troubleshoot or develop solutions.
- Assist in overseeing and decision-making during initial production batch scale-ups for new products.
- Support comparison of existing production methods with new technologies (e.g., loop ethoxylation vs. stirred pot).
- Collaborate with the Quality Control Lab to establish testing procedures for new lab equipment.
- Understand and adhere to site-specific standards (e.g., PS9100, REACH, IPCC).
- Ensure that products meet all pharmacopoeia and legislative requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a chemical manufacturing or laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and conducting quality analysis through techniques such as titrations, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and solid analysis.
