SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Process Development Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers and technicians to establish, document, and implement capable injection molding processes through structured study and the application of scientific molding principles. Primary responsibilities include the delivery of processes to support new injection molding tooling, investigation of new materials, investigation of new molding technologies and capabilities. Process Development also supports production molding by analyzing production concerns and offering solutions to improve cost, efficiency and capability. This is a hands-on position, requiring functional knowledge of all aspects of the injection molding process. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned): • Manage a team of up to 10 process engineers and technicians across three shifts, operating 24 hours per day, 5 days per week (occasional weekend work, when necessary, less than 5%). • Partner with product and tooling design engineering teams to deliver processes for new injection molding tools to production. • Support production molding process optimizations and efficiency improvements. • Collaborate directly with RD&E, quality control, tooling and production molding teams to establish short- and long-term Process Development priorities. • Coordinate and delegate daily activities and duties to team members: approve timecards; track in-house training of employees; coordinate safety training; create detailed disciplinary reports • Facilitate the use of structured experimentation to validate injection molding processes both internally and at Mold Tooling vendors. • Develop and implement systems to ensure rigorous Process Standardization and Control in a high-volume production environment including process documentation and documentation management. • Remain current in the injection molding industry through formal and informal training and education opportunities. • Works with the Director of Engineering to ensure the long-term health of the Process Development team thru training and knowledge development, Talent Planning, and succession planning Travel: 0-25%, primarily domestic Requirements • Bachelors Degree in Engineering in a must. • American Injection Molding Institute (AIM) certification is a plus. • Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team to deliver products and/or processes within aggressive timelines meeting challenging requirements. • Demonstrated ability to develop, document and deliver controlled molding processes into a production manufacturing environment.
