About the role:This position develops processes for new product lines to ensure process meet key performance goals (i.e., safety, quality, cost, and delivery). Process development will consist of creating processes to transition research and development projects to manufacturing. Example processes include, but are not limited to, thermal bonding of plastics, adhesives, soldering, and laser/resistance/sonic welding technologies. This role will require high levels of interaction with cross-functional teams (i.e., Research and Development, Quality, and Manufacturing).
Your responsibilities will include: - Create and develop processes from initial design stages.
- Work cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, and other groups to develop processes for production.
- Design/procure equipment and fixturing for processes working with both internal and external vendors.
- Conduct process characterization studies and complete process validations.
- Create, develop, and validate test methods.
- Develop and conduct test studies and experiments.
- Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from testing results.
- Write technical reports to share results of testing and experimentation.
- Train and provide work instruction to product builders and/or technicians.
- Troubleshoot issues as they arise and work with fellow engineers to create engineering solutions.
- Significant amount of hands-on process development as processes are iterated to meet design requirements.
Required qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in engineering related field
- 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment, process development, or R&D
- Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot manufacturing processes utilizing problem solving skills
- Highly collaborative, with strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred qualifications: - Medical Device Industry Experience
- Familiar with Process Improvement and Problem-Solving tools such as DMAIC
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools for making engineering decisions (Minitab)
