Job Description:
As a Process Engineer, under the direction of the Continuous Improvement Lead, you will work directly with the operations team, hourly workforce and cross-functionally with all levels of management and will utilize Lean Tools and Disciplines to drive sustainable improvements in process, quality, safety and delivery. On the plant floor, you will assess what projects need attention, prioritize work, whether achieving a milestone of doing an implementation, develop ideas, often in conjunction with key staff, review concepts and assess project viability. Throughout project lifecycles you will meet with stakeholders, including Malteurop Corporate contacts and management, review project status and metrics, do design reviews and more.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform and lead detailed benchmarking campaigns on Malteurop North America (MENA) plant performances (Utilities, Maintenance, Yield, Capacity, Labor, Quality, Etc.)
  • Identify opportunities for improving plant performance
    • Lead team brainstorming meetings
    • Routine in-plant analysis of plant processes
    • Routine benchmarking with other Malteurop facilities
  • Follow the PDCA (Plan- Do- Check- Act) problem solving cycle and execute projects to improve plant performance continuously
    • Prioritize projects
    • Detail project scopes and technical requirements
    • Gather costs
    • Provide business cases
    • Develop project management tools & charters, such as: Gantt charts, risk management, etc.
  • Perform routine analysis on plant performance and provide feedback for the plant team
  • Develop and communicating best operating practices with other Malteurop facilities
  • Require to gain advanced knowledge and competence in both malting processes and plant technologies.
  • Responsible for understanding their role in food safety, following employee good manufacturing practices, and reporting any potential food safety issues.
Qualifications required:
  • Bachelor's Degree: Engineering Preferred
  • 2+ years hands-on manufacturing experience
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Able to communicate in English is required
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing and application of lean tools
  • Experience in data analysis and Change management is a plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of malting engineering and biochemistry is a plus
  • Domestic Travel: up to 20%
