Summary:
The Process Engineer must provide direction, guidance, and support to all the shift and day Process Technicians. The Process Engineer will apply continuous improvement methodology to enhance plant operations, supporting the specific plant goals in operational effectiveness (OE), job effectiveness (JE), safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering expertise for a fundamental understanding of manufacturing.
- Lead and support projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new products/processes.
- Execute all required duties while practicing safe work methods and adhering to all plant safety rules.
- Provide training for customers regarding equipment or operations changes.
- Become knowledgeable about the project's contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
- Be the driver in investigating, proposing, procuring, and launching new process and operations improvements (flexible automation and manual equipment) by developing specific metrics and conducting necessary audits.
- Develop troubleshooting guides for maintenance and operations personnel for line use. Train and deploy these in the plant.
- Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Recommend/implement improvements to processes and equipment.
- Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
- Develop and maintain the project master schedule.
- Manage document control, receive and log in new issue drawings and other contract documents, and maintain document control log.
- Actively participate with the EHS team to lead projects that improve worker safety and minimize incident risk.
- Function as a change agent and systematically drive and implement change through cross-functional efforts between the safety, manufacturing, and quality resource.
- Develop engineering documentation: PFMEA, Control Plans, SOP etc.
- Develop and maintain regular reports consistent with departmental needs to track progress and drive action on plant improvements.
- Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline like Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science & Engineering.
- Experience in solar cell manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical approach.
- Proven technical acumen.
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical college diploma.
- The ability to effectively interface with all management levels and other client business units.
