The Process Engineer is responsible for testing, optimizing, documentation and implementing of all new tools. This includes working with the tooling department from the design phase to sampling to minimize issue when released for production.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist throughout the design phase of tooling to make improvement suggestions
- Establish, maintain, optimize, and document mold set-ups, start-up procedures, shut down procedures, and cycle times
- Coordinate needs with Production / Tooling / Maintenance
- Lead troubleshooting of common and complex molding problems and perform corrective action
- Monitor records and prepare legible reports, including SPC reports, QC inspection reports, housekeeping checklists, mold cavity data sheets, production downtime reports, cycle time sheets and problem/corrective action logs, etc. in accordance with departmental standards and Quality System Standards
- Observe all safety and environmental procedures
- Participate in and suggest continuous improvement projects to reduce waste and process variation
- Take a pro-active approach in LEAN methodology
- Support and strive towards goals and objectives set by management team
- Must communicate verbal & written instructions as necessary
- Must work a reasonable amount of overtime
- Must perform all other duties as assigned
- Traveling internationally to verify mold trials are performed to our teams' expectations and to suggest any revisions that may be needed
- Travel up to 10% Internationally
Qualifications:
- Four (4) year degree and/or equivalent experience required:
- 5 years of experience in plastic injection molding environment
- Hands on manufacturing experience necessary to drive change
- Familiar with lean manufacturing principles and concepts
- Experience with injection molding machines
- Experience with cartesian robot programming
- Knowledge of proper Tool Design approached
- RJG Systematic or AIM Molding courses a plus
- Must be a self- starter with high initiative and ability to work independently
- Proven leadership abilities, i.e., coaching employees for success, completion of formalized leadership training is a plus
- Excellent planning and time management skills - keen organizational sense in order to manage the various tasks appropriately
- Must be very adaptable to manage changes in priorities
- Must be an active change agent for the organization - very flexible for changing environment
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, inventory/shipping systems (IQ MS preferred)
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
