Job Description Process Engineer Boyd (Woburn) is a market leader and manufacturer of high-performance cooling products for use in the aerospace, military, alternative energy and medical markets. Our continued growth has created an immediate opening for a Process Engineer. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills who can improve process yield and consistency, develop new products and create high quality drawings documentation. In this highly visible position in our Engineering department you will:
- Determine optimum weld process, braze recipes and heat treat cycles to meet customer requirements.
- Review and analyze historical yield and process data for the weld, heat treat and braze processes and execute on process improvement actions to improve stability and consistency.
- Design and conduct designed experiments (DOEs) to determine the process parameters that impact finished product. Implement controls on key parameters.
- Write work instructions to drive consistent results.
- Design/validate fixtures and tooling to support braze, weld and heat treat.
- Conduct process failure analyses to determine root cause and corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain pFMEAs for each process based on the types of failures, frequency of occurrence and ease of detection. Prioritize actions on the highest process risks.
- Support NADCAP compliance.
- Apply lean principles to improving factory operations.
- Participate in design reviews and ensure process risks are reduced to lowest reasonable level.
Minimum requirements; 0 -5 years in a materials science role preferably with direct experience in the area of brazing or TIG welding. A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. Experience with CAD, MRP Software, military specifications and AS9100 is also important.
