Job DescriptionChemical process engineers research, design and develop chemical processes and equipment to expand operations, improve efficiencies, reduce emissions and resolve issues in the energy industry.These engineers also oversee the operation, performance, optimization and maintenance of petroleum production, processing, upgrading, liquefaction and refining and ensure that chemical processes maximize operational efficiency and mitigate any environmental impacts.The Process Engineer III provides crucial technical support to manufacturing operations, ensuring that they meet planned objectives related to safety, quality, quantity, and cost. The role involves offering process design recommendations for process improvements and capital projects, conducting process optimization studies, participating in plant trials, and performing Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) reviews to meet Process Safety requirements. The Process Engineer III may also assist in mentoring junior engineers and is a safety-critical role.Responsibilities:•Perform standard engineering assignments that are a significant portion of larger projects.•Develop, evaluate, calculate, and design modifications to existing chemical processes.•Participate as a team member in capital project development by providing process design information.•Develop alternatives and recommend solutions to equipment and process issues.•Assist R&D or Senior Engineers with trial development and participate in plant trials as a team member.•Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, suppliers, and technical personnel.•Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations.•Participate in specific phases of broad engineering assignments as a team member.•Prepare documentation for assigned projects.•Provide technical leadership to a small group of engineers and technicians.•Ensure the successful completion of assigned project phases within budgeted time and cost constraints.•Participate in defining engineering approaches and in planning and scheduling work.•Apply a basic understanding of maintenance practices to assist in troubleshooting and improving equipment performance and reliability with limited support.•Understand and contribute to the safety and environmental goals and objectives of the plant and department.•Initiate improvement ideas and gain organizational support to develop these into projects.•Demonstrate continuous quality improvement to meet customer needs and company objectives.•Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications•Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.•A minimum of 3+ years of experience as a process engineer or in a similar engineering position in a manufacturing environment.•In-depth knowledge of various unit operations, including chemical reactors, distillation, heat transfer, evaporation, drying, milling, filtration, pumping, fluid flow, material handling, and support services.•Demonstrated ability to achieve results both individually and as part of a team.•Ability to apply engineering principles and knowledge to solve problems using creative solutions.•Experience in leading the development, evaluation, and design of new or existing chemical processes.•Knowledge of statistical design and evaluation methods.•Ability to use analytical processes to assess situations, develop plans, make decisions, generate innovative ideas, and troubleshoot operational problems.Why is This a Great OpportunityWhy This Position:•Be part of a dynamic team in a top-tier global chemical manufacturing company.•Contribute to a stable and collaborative work environment that values continuous improvement.•Opportunity to lead and mentor, with a clear path for career advancementLocations Ashtabula
