**Responsibilities**

**POSITION SUMMARY:**

Responsible to select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to improve efficiencies and reduce costs in order to optimize production. Has ownership of the process and in charge of process improvement and optimization in mixing, coating and converting areas. Oversees process engineer and process technicians. Ensures continuous improvement projects are planning in a correct manner through a correct plan and execution. Ultimately responsible for the continuous improvement of the plant processes deploying Six Sigma methodologies.

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**

1. Safety First Models the highest level of safety consciousness.

2. Oversee process engineer and process technicians to ensure success of the projects in the floor, achieving improvement in MEEF and EFF.

3. Maintains high level of safety ensuring equipment and facilities are in proper condition.

4. Enforces company policy and enforces safety regulation within the team.

5. Assist with insuring operational compliance about environmental regulatory agencies. Focus on quality by staying abreast of customer specs and continuously improving process capabilities to meet needs of the customer and the market.

6. Execute and implement new trials with RD department to ensure a safe launch in production. Documented process, record changes in MOP. Work in conjunction with R&D on the development, scale-up, and commercialization of new products and technology platforms.

7. Understands and develops systems to meet ISO and customer developed quality systems.

8. Develops and helps implement 5whys, A3 and Kaizen events.

9. Develops other systems, which improves reliability, reduces costs and maintains world-class operational controls.

10. Coordinate new projects regarding installation of machinery. Identify and procure new equipment/components to support process improvements. Thus assists in startup of new equipment installations/transfers and with product commercialization and qualification.

11. Understands manufacturing process and operational principles of production in order to develop new products and optimize existing products.

12. Cooperatively works with Quality, Production Managers, Team Leaders and Operators to accomplish plant and company goals, promote teamwork and synergy for the betterment of the plant and company.

13. Network and collaborate with other resources in other Berry locations to obtain and transfer learning, expertise, and opportunities to the plant.

14. Continually mentor operators on quality and engineering by coaching and thus demonstrate expertise and knowledge in Process Improvement and Operations

15. Performs any other task necessary to insure safe, effective, legal operation of the plant.

**Qualifications**

QUALIFICATIONS:

+ BS/BA degree required preferably in Engineering or Chemistry discipline; or five years of manufacturing experience with three of those years being in a Process Engineering role; or a combination of both. Experience should be in root cause analysis on equipments/processes in Manufacturing or Industrial environments.

+ Minimum two years of manufacturing experience preferably with coating and converting equipment. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, ISO. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is a plus.

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, process, and procedure manuals.

+ Ability to speak effectively before groups.

+ Ability to calculate and apply statistical analysis to data associated with the process department.

+ Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

+ Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

+ A 'take charge' person with a positive & proactive attitude with the ability to perform with minimal supervision

+ Strong Engineering Project Management skills needed. PMP is a plus.

+ Strong technical aptitude & analytical skills; detail & process oriented with strong problem resolution abilities; excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

+ Strong coaching skills and the ability to influence without reporting lines, that allow the individual to achieve buy-in, build trust, teach and mentor hourly production, maintenance and others as necessary. TRAVEL AND MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 1. Travel up to 10% 2. Provides support for multi-shift operation. 3. Willing to spend the majority of time in the plant with the operators.

Compensation: $105,000 to $115,000 Annually
