About the Role:The Process Lab Technician will execute assigned tasks and duties allowing the Research & Technology laboratories to maintain current and future testing activities and deliver consistent results and services to the customer. Qualifications:Education:High School diploma/equivalent w/advanced education required;Associate's Degree preferred.Experience:High School diploma/equivalent w/some advanced education and 1-3 years of applicable manufacturing/industrial experience required;Associate's Degree in a technical field and 1 year of pertinent experience preferred.Areas of Knowledge:Industrial safety and laboratory workflow are required knowledge areas; sample preparation, abrasive cutting, working in an atmosphere of hot material and machinery and equipment maintenance are preferred. Skills:Advanced Math Skills, Organizational, Computer - Word processing and spreadsheets, Communication, Interpersonal, Analytical, Writing, Reading micrometers and calipers and Equipment Operations.Specific Accountabilities for the Role:Communication-Communicate effectively and clearly, contributing personal and professional knowledge to enhance the skills of others. Receptive to direction and accepting feedback in a positive manner, recommending and accepting additional training, demonstrating support of team goals, flexibility, and cooperation. Serve as a role model motivating others to achieve results through example and encouragement. Promote two-way communication for ideas, improvements, and continual feedback.Processes Used-Perform tasks per work request submitted by Engineering considering Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost. These include but not limited to sample Preparation, Abrasive Saw cutting, Shearing, Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM), Electro-Slag Remelting (ESR), Forging, and Hot and Cold Rolling. Maintain a clean and organized work area with the understanding that the job is not complete until the area is clean. Assist in maintaining current inventory of alloy material for testing and customer distribution.Cross-functional Relations-Recognize responsibilities based on the organizational structure and communicate with the appropriate person(s) responsible. Assist Supervisor and Lead technician in process/procedural improvement initiatives, maintaining laboratory procedures, equipment, and training to meet all internal/external requirement accreditation mandates and industry standards.
