On-Board Engineering is hiring a Process / Project Engineer in Newark, NJ!!Position Details: Position Type: Full-Time Job Location: Newark, NJ Benefits: Medical, Dental, 401k and more. Compensation: $60/hr - $85/hr depending upon qualifications Drug and background screenings required Overview: In need of someone who has demonstrated strengths and success as both a Process Engineer and as a Project Engineer / Manager. Summary: Responsible for providing process / project engineering and management services in support of small and medium sized capital projects originating from the Port Newark site, provide process engineering support to Production to optimize and improve operations, reduce costs or improve safety Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for conducting all relevant project reviews with participation of key project team members; design, operability & maintainability, process hazards analysis, constructability.
  • Develop process design specifications for specific equipment and piping requirements
  • Prepare Pre-Conceptual, Basic & Detailed Engineering design packages for capital projects.
  • Directly manage the internal lead disciplines and external contractors in all phases of the capital project implementation
  • Prepare comprehensive project procedure manual including master & detailed schedules showing key milestones and critical path on major project implementation.
  • Monitor, control and report on performance against project budget and schedule.
  • Prepare management approvals for all basis of design change requests. Approve payments against invoices.
  • Prepare Job Safety Analysis on critical construction processes where necessary
  • Facilitate the Pre-Startup Safety Review and ensure necessary action items are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate equipment access with Production
  • Ensure all projects are completed on time, in budget and technically accurate.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the latest approaches and techniques for effective project management.
  • Work in close cooperation and collaborate with Production, R&D, Engineering, Maintenance and Quality Control Departments.
  • Provide input into the evaluation of new equipment and instrumentation capable of providing improved operation efficiency and reduced downtime.
  • Support Global Engineering project manager on large capital project implementation

  • BS degree in Engineering, chemical preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience of demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in executing engineering capital projects, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years' experience with process engineering and equipment design
  • Familiar with stage gate process for capital project implementation
Language Ability
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand technical procedures, PFDs, P&ID's and technical procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand governmental regulations and company policy and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and write business correspondence, utilize project management related documents and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, co-workers, customers, vendors and the general workforce.
Math Ability:
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
