Schedule: 12 hour rotational shift; 7 pm to 7 am
Basic Function
Primary responsibility includes processing, troubleshooting new or existing products & tooling utilizing Thermo-former & Trim-Press. Consistently develop ways to improve downtime associated with Changeovers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety and Housekeeping
* Follow All approved Lock-out / Tag Out Safety Procedures guidelines in All equipment
* Ensure that all Safety switches and guards are always in place and in good working order in addition to adhering to operating procedures.
* Report any unsafe conditions to the supervisors immediately upon discovery of any potential hazards or risks to protect all employees.
* Train operators in basic safety and operating procedures. Former/Trim-Press/Extruder
Process
* Responsible for stablishing forming and trimming procedures to maintain and improve POE/OEE sustainability.
* Stablishing line S.P.M. at first article.
* Monitor and follow process control documents (centerline) record deviations and assignable causes, and work towards correcting such causes.
* Keep a record of pertinent process variables for the purpose of benchmarking and improving the process.
* Identify factors that negatively affect cycle time and work towards resolving such problems.
* Continuously improve processes to achieve best output without compromising quality
* Monitor condition of equipment and tooling and notify Process Engineer about areas that need attention.
* Assist team during line changeovers to expedite Line startup.
Training and Development
* Aid/Train Set-up technicians and operators in performing troubleshooting and making process adjustments as necessary on unresolved process problems.
* Aid/train operators in maximizing products output while maintaining product quality by providing hands-on training and process direction to operators.
Quality
* Responsible for quality of parts coming off the line as it relates to the proper set-up of forming and trimming equipment.
* Coordinate with Quality Assurance Department and technicians to ensure product meets all quality standards.
* Activate and train operators on separation stroke to improve miss count.
Tooling /Maintenance
* Monitor condition of equipment and tooling and notify Process Engineer about areas that need attention.
* Assess and report to production manager/supervisors or maintenance manager of any equipment repairs, preventive maintenance issues and improvements on all equipment.
* Inspect and organize all tooling prior to installation, and after removal to ensure all pieces are in good working condition.
* Report tooling performance for that run should there be any deviation from standard to ensure continued good performance.
* Ensure all tools are repaired prior to installation.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Good general mechanical skills.
* Clean and organized.
* In-depth and detailed knowledge of thermoforming, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical processes.
* Some knowledge of electrical controllers and circuits
* Analytically oriented to troubleshoot and establish root cause.
* Sense of urgency.
* Willing to work overtime (Cover team during PTO)
* Must thoroughly understand all thermoforming and extrusion procedures and be capable of independently troubleshooting problems.
* Detailed and multitask oriented.
* Possess reasonably good communication skills
* Have working knowledge of dryer/crystallizer/blender system and be able to troubleshoot.
* Have a positive attitude towards teamwork and improvements of the process.
Qualifications
Experience
* A minimum of 3 years plastic industry experience.
* 3 to 5 years' experience in process troubleshooting
* 3 to 5 years in thermoforming, machine maintenance and plastics a plus.
* High school diploma or equivalent trade school diploma.
* General knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
