9 a.m. - 2 p.m.*open the 2nd and 4th SaturdayEdgar Allan Poe/Sullivan's Island LibraryBranch Locations: Library Collections, Acquisitions, and Technical Services (LCATS) / Support ServicesReports To: Cataloging & Processing SupervisorGeneral Summary:The Processing Specialist – Team Lead, under the general direction of the Cataloging & Processing Supervisor and Access & Discovery Manager, supervises the work of a team of two processing staff and administers the established processing workflow. In addition to supervisory duties, the Team Lead prepares new materials for circulation, reviews pre-processed items to ensure accuracy, and repairs damaged items so that they can be returned to circulation. This position requires physical labor including pushing fully loaded book trucks weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. The person in this role must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, as a great part of this job will involve interacting with other internal customers.Responsibilities:Review queue of pending items and tickets and assign tasks to team to meet deadlines and to maximize efficiency and accuracy.Track team's processing statistics, including time spent, volumes processed, and error rates.Maintain processing supply inventory and submit purchase requests as needed.Physically prepare materials (books, DVDs, and other circulating objects) by creating item records, encoding RFID tags, and affixing barcodes, spine labels, spine tape, and mylar book jackets according to departmental standards.Review processing and item metadata (including item type, home location, and call number) for accuracy and consistency prior to distribution.Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present a positive attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of library amenities and the ability to provide information about library policies.Ability to use tact, courtesy and good judgment when communicating with coworkers, and the public.Ability to demonstrate knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of library materials, both print and electronic.Ability to communicate effectively and present ideas orally and in writing.Ability to carry out assignments independently and work collaboratively with a team.Qualifications and Requirements:High School diploma or GED equivalent.4 years library experience preferred; ORBachelor's or higher degree.Experience supervising a small team preferred.Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn and use new methods and emerging technical advances.Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff, and a strong work ethic.Benefits and Compensation:Charleston County Public Library offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, Paid Vacation and Sick Leave, Paid Holidays, 401k, and a Pension Plan.$42,432.00 - $47,798.40 annually commensurate with education and experience.*Please make a note on your application and cover letter which position(s) and branch location(s) you would like to be considered for employment.#J-18808-Ljbffr
