Description
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed and reliable broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are looking for talented individuals to help process and prepare Kuiper satellites for launch.
The success of Kuiper depends on the quality, reliability, cost, integration, throughput, and security of the products delivered. It is a fast-paced, dynamic environment. As part of the Kuiper team, you will support resolution of difficult problems that have high impact, and help create a brand new set of launch site processes and standards. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while maintaining the highest standards of execution.
The processing technician will work as part of a team for receiving the hardware, processing satellites into the cleanroom, perform electrical test validation and battery charging, and other movements of the spacecraft through the workzone. The satellite operations consist of using with tools and equipment like overhead cranes and forklifts. The electrical test consists of operating a power supply system and requesting/reviewing data from the spacecraft. This individual with work closely with their peers and lead, engineers, and other cross-functional organizations.
The ideal candidate is comfortable in a highly technical, fast-paced, and collaborative setting; is able to follow technical work instructions; and support the team through processing operations.

Final assembly and test of the Kuiper satellites using various ground systems in a clean-room and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled environment.
Verify satellite health using computer-controlled equipment to command and monitor satellite telemetry.
Execute work assigned individually and/or with the team to meet production schedule.
Use precision calibrated tools torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
Use electrical test equipment tools -- multi-meters, breakout boxes, and harnesses.
Perform overhead crane lift operations and use pallet jacks and forklifts for hardware movement.
Perform work according to engineering drawings and technical work instructions.
Check and inspect work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements.
Collaborate with leads, peers, and engineers to improve processes and activities.
Perform other duties, as assigned, to ensure an efficient, safe and effective work environment.
Able to obtain and maintain licenses, and/or certifications as required by job responsibilities (i.e. forklift, crane, electrical).
Mentor new and junior team members, as needed.
Willing to work overtime and weekends as required.

A day in the life
The processing technician will meet with their team leads to understand objectives for the day. They will be processing satellites with mechanical and electrical ground support equipment per work instructions provided by engineering. They will document completed work and report non-conformances to their leads and engineering as they occur. Periodically, they will perform maintenance on the ground and facility systems supporting satellite movements. They will be expected to cross train with all other launch operations work areas, including mechanical areas, to support work surges and travel to other launch sites.
