  • The Buyer/Planner has the primary responsibility of ensuring material availability to support the production schedule. Other responsibilities include managing inventory levels, supporting material/product level revisions, interacting/coordinating with suppliers on a variety of topics, and supporting other business functions as required.
Key Job Duties:
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by forecast and the production schedule.
  • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems
  • Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes
  • Determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and material lead times
  • Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development
  • Manage the inter-company flow or materials between warehouse locations
  • Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers
  • Setup & maintain material master system planning parameters (MOQ, lead time, safety stocks)
  • Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options
  • Ensure and promote compliance to Company and Procurement policies and procedures.
Qualifications Education:
  • BA/BS Required
  • MBA preferred Required Experience:
  • Requires sourcing-related experience in the pharmaceutical or related industries.
Preferred Experience:
  • Excellent communication, relationship, and leadership skills.
  • Must be adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments.
  • Able to effectively lead work within diverse cross-functional teams to achieve client, department, and company goal.
Education Minimum Requirement:
  • BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred; High School diploma or equivalent with relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • 2-5 years relevant experience as a buyer/planner/material scheduler .
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems/concepts, forecasting, MRP, transportation, supply chain, inventory management and warehousing disciplines - preferably SAP.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite - skills with MS Excel and SAP,
  • Analytical with a methodical approach to problem solving with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent organization, communication and follow-up skills.
  • Customer focused (internal and external) in a dynamic environment.
  • Focused on collaboration with a constructive and proactive attitude.
  • Comprehend and follow Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • The Individual handles routine and ad hoc purchasing needs, vendor reporting, and other administrative tasks as defined by the General Manager.
