SUMMARYThis position is responsible for preparing and shipping outbound perishable orders and the daily distribution of perishables. Occasionally unloading produce and other loads and being involved in the put away process. This position also maintains high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety. Performance of the following duties is done personally.RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates/communicates with supervisor on a daily basis the quantity and quality of produce donated, scrapped and available for distribution.
- Understands the specific produce needs of our member agencies and building orders based on their size.
- Prepares assigned perishable orders and ensures that each order is clearly marked with a pallet label.
- Pulling orders daily using a reach truck or electric jack as the primary vehicle. Splitting of pallets pulled to satisfy agency orders.
- Inspects the quality of outbound produce orders and brings any concerns to the warehouse planner or supervision.
- Assist in posting inventory picks, printing invoices and delivering to the transportation department.
- Assist in performing inventory counts on all perishable products.
- Conveys materials and items from receiving/production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety. Providing housekeeping services for the building, as needed, or necessary.
- Maintains required job knowledge and skills and core professional competencies, including attending and participating in required educational programs and staff meetings.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety at all times.
- Assist in loading produce orders as needed.
- Actively support and champion initiatives aimed at driving continuous improvement throughout the organization. May participate in one of the following: LEAN council, a kaizen, 5S campaign or other process improvement efforts to support continuous improvement and improved processes within the food bank.

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesN/A.QualificationsHS Diploma/GED required. Two to three years of experience in the food distribution/manufacturing industry required. Tow motor and pallet jack certified. Serve-safe certified. Required commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive work environment as demonstrated through work, life or community experience.Physical Requirements and EnvironmentThe physical requirements for this position include: Occasional ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to move about inside the office and to access truck cab and deliver product constantly. Ability to operate a computer or other office productivity machinery constantly. Ability to ascend/descend stairs to access work spaces frequently. Ability to position or move body to access filing cabinets or other work equipment constantly. Ability to constantly be able to exchange accurate information, take and give direction and hear safety warnings. Ability to constantly inspect product, judge distance between equipment, shelves and permanent structures. Ability to frequently detect spoiled product or quality of meals. Ability to move office equipment/supplies constantly. Ability to lift 50+ lbs on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working in a refrigerated environment, occasionally exposed to working in a freezer rated between 0 and -10 degrees.
