(if over 40 hours each week are worked, no overtime pay is offered). This position reports directly to the CFO.Minimum 1 year of Retail Produce experience requiredResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:Buying & Ordering
- Assist department managers as they fulfill the produce needs of all produce carrying stores of Rainbow Blossom
- Assist department managers as they complete special orders for the general public and for the Blossom Bar (perhaps pursue other small businesses)
- Provide information to the CFO regarding Crosset, Albert's, and the Local Vendors as available
- Oversee the St. Matthews market produce manager for the Local Produce Distribution box (CSA) ordering and coordination
Management
- Set daily work flow and task management for all produce dept. managers, produce coworkers, and any produce carrying stores
- Provide encouragement, tips, and necessary information for all other produce department staffers
- Provide oversight to the facilitation and coordination of local farmer's produce
- Think progressively and wisely about how to increase sales at all times and follow through with good ideas
- Schedule and lead monthly team department meetings
Finance, Budgeting & Inventory
- Help all produce department managers as they keep track of the produce expense budgets for all produce carrying stores
- Maintain margins & drive up sales through promotional deals (Use CFO as resource)
- Conduct Margin Audits of the entire department to ensure accurate and competitive pricing
- Engage in Price Comparison shopping of competitors to ensure our pricing is in-line with the local market
- Manage invoices & make them electronically available for USDA inspection
- Review all store's ledgers on a weekly basis, and track month-to-month sales and expense trends of the department.
Merchandising, Advertising & Organization
- Assist in making price signs and promotional signs for all produce carrying stores
- Provide price updates on a weekly basis in Catapult (or other system for tracking), and aggregate new prices and new item information through an online inventory database that's shared among the other stores
- Closely review movement reports on a weekly basis
- Look for opportunities to let the public know how great our produce is: 100% Organic or Local and Best Produce in Louisville (booths at events, tastings, coupons, Edible Louisville, social networking, relationship building) Use James and Raegan as a marketing and signage resource
Maintenance
- Ensure all equipment, display cases, and coolers under my supervision are functioning properly and are clean, in conjunction with the store managers
- Ensure that all produce managers clean the floors when necessary
- Ensure that all stores are cleaned, sanitary, orderly, & following health dept. regulation
- Ensure that produce managers clean underneath the wet and cold cases on a bimonthly basis (or according to the existing cleaning schedule and policy)
Floor Functions
- Ensure that the Produce Managers are appropriately stocking and culling their respective produce departments
- Ensure that the Produce Managers are appropriately maintaining the quality, consistency, and cleanliness of their produce sets
- Be a Team Player: Answer phones, fill in at register, collect carts, make sure the exterior of the store looks clean & ensure customer satisfaction in all departments of the store
Leadership
- Set monthly and quarterly goals for the department by meeting with the CFO
- Visit each produce department at least twice a month for an audit of each store's department
- Meet weekly with CFO to set department goals and track progress
