Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Associate AD, Communications & Broadcast, the Beach Vision Producer will oversee all broadcast operations for Long Beach State Athletics. This position will oversee live event production, coordinate broadcast schedules, and ensure compliance with conference and NCAA regulations, all aimed at delivering high-quality broadcast content for athletic events. By leading the production unit and providing expert oversight, this role enhances the visibility and success of Long Beach State Athletics, ultimately enriching the overall experience for athletes, fans, and the broader university community. Key Responsibilities Oversee the planning, production, and execution of live broadcasts for all athletic events ensuring high quality production and broadcast standards. Supervise and train Beach Vision crew related to game day video production, non-game day video production, video content creation, graphic design elements, and content dissemination. Serve as the primary contact to external broadcast partners (Big West Conference, ESPN+, etc.), coordinating event schedules and coverage. Oversee and manage the broadcast operations budget, staying within financial constraints and ensuring efficient use of resources. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Strong working knowledge of operating switcher board, replay and video board content creation. Working knowledge of full range of production techniques including sound recording, graphics, television, photography, videotaping, lighting, editing methods and equipment. Working knowledge of copyright and other applicable laws pertaining to publications and the media. Thorough knowledge of web communication techniques, vehicles, and formats. Strong story development and writing skills, as well as advanced editorial skills. Knowledge of interview techniques and the ability to define and deliver media messages. Ability to effectively use web technology to achieve communication goals. Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, often including evenings, weekends and some travel as required. Ability to work effectively on short deadlines. Ability to learn techniques in the development of television, film, radio, or multimedia productions. Ability to provide lead work direction. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong public speaking, listening and interpretive skills. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a vision of excellence. Education and Experience Equivalent to a bachelors degree in a related field, and four years of relevant professional or technical experience required. Preferred: Experience in creating video content for athletic teams and involvement in live sporting event production. Experience in NCAA Division I collegiate or professional athletics is preferred. Physical Summary Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits. Licenses / Certificates Driver license is required. Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program. Department Athletics Classification Public Affairs/Communications Specialist III Compensation CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,842 - $8,759 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring departments fiscal resources.
