BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Senate Democratic Caucus, a communications and outreach team for the Democrats in the California State Senate, seeks a motivated and dedicated Multimedia Content Creator with on-camera, podcast hosting or voiceover experience. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about media and video production in a government setting. The Multimedia Content Creator will support the production of video content, including on-camera work, podcasting, voiceovers, editing, livestreaming, and other communication efforts that help inform and engage the public. Preferred candidates will have experience with podcasting and social media content creation. This position may require occasional overnight travel. DUTIES: Assist the media team in creating and producing video and podcasting content, including setup for filming, operating equipment, and supporting post-production tasks. Perform on-camera or voiceover roles as needed to support video content. Edit audio/video content for a variety of projects, including podcasts, public service announcements, policy updates, event coverage, and educational materials, ensuring a cohesive and polished final product. Manage and organize media assets, including audio/video files, graphics, and other materials, to maintain an accessible and efficient media archive. Lead podcast production, including recording, editing, and distributing episodes, as part of outreach efforts. Knowledge of podcast distribution platforms preferred. Contribute to social media and digital content strategy by creating and scheduling posts that align with video campaigns and Caucus messaging. Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and develop new ideas for engaging video, podcast, and multimedia content. Assist in monitoring the performance of video and social media content across platforms and provide insights for improving audience engagement. Stay informed on the latest trends in media, video production, voiceover techniques, podcasting, and social media to enhance skills and support the team effectively. DESIRABLE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset. Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. Preferred experience with podcasting and social media content creation. Familiarity with audio editing software, such as Adobe Auditon, Audacity. Experience with video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, a plus. Passion for media production, storytelling, and public service. Knowledge of social media platforms and digital content management is a plus. Ability to work under tight deadlines and juggle competing requirements without compromising quality or storytelling. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Media Studies, Communications, Journalism, or a related field; or equivalent work/internship experience in media or video production. Prior experience with on-camera or voiceover work. Must have a basic understanding of audio and video production techniques. LOCATION, SALARY AND FILING DATE: This position is located in Sacramento, CA. Final salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
