Product Compliance Specialist Electronics Technician 1

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Product Compliance Specialist Electronics Technician 1 position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of basic and routine product tests according to prescribed standards to determine functionality, compliance and meet industry standards. Assist with activities related to test and validation product development and sustaining. Follows guidelines for conducting product design tests to meet established specifications. Assembles prototypes, creates test setups, and collects data in support of third party approvals, product development and business unit efforts. Responsible for maintaining equipment and components used in the electronics lab. Assists Fike employees not usually involved in research and development testing.

Primary Responsibilities:

Applies basic knowledge in the performance of primary responsibilities.

1. Expedites the procurement of miscellaneous parts and materials required for product development, and design validation testing.

2. Establishes and maintains the organization and cleanliness of Laboratory/Test work areas to 6S program standards, including separation and labeling of like tools, materials and parts. Maintains suitable tools for assigned Laboratory/Test areas. Provides assistance with locating said materials as necessary.

3. Performs basic troubleshooting of prototype circuit designs and firmware/software operation.

4. Assembles prototype products utilizing Surface Mount Technology and Through Hole Technology as well as test apparatuses in a timely and quality manner while under the guidance of engineers.

5. Monitors ongoing testing for results as defined by engineering staff.

6. Assists with prototype assemblies and systems required by project engineers.

7. Ensures that each ongoing test system remains intact as other test efforts proceed in proximity to one another.

8. Follows up on procurement of prototypes and sample materials to ensure project timelines.

9. Keeps laboratory management and engineers informed concerning work assignment conflicts.

10. Maintains safe work environment for self and others especially during testing of prototypes.

11. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stretch, bend, kneel, stoop, and climb a ladder. The employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to bright flashing lights (strobe testing), electrical voltage and live circuits while using appropriate personal protective equipment. Works in a temperature controlled environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.

Job Qualifications:

Required: Associate's degree in electronics or certificate in electronics technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience. One plus year related experience in performing troubleshooting and testing and/or repairing electronic equipment. Demonstrated ability in using multi-meter, oscilloscope, and other electronic test equipment. Knowledge of electronic field practices. Knowledge of computer hardware and office productivity software. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and good mechanical dexterity.

Preferred: BSEET and 1 year experience in a product development environment. Familiar with IPC-A-610 and IPC-JSTD. Highly Desire IPC-JSTD Certified and knowledge of Visual Basics for Application programming

Compensation

    • The base rate for thispositionstarts at $18.57per hour and goes up depending on experience and qualifications.
