Position Summary:

Originates and develops ideas to design the form of manufactured products by performing the following duties. Provides assistance, guidance and technical information to others.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Creates and makes changes to three-dimensional representations of components and assemblies using parametric 3-D modeling software - Creo. Develop modeling techniques and processes that can be integrated throughout the department as best design practices. Create and use parameter base geometry with family tables and user defined tables. Use PLM (Windchill preferred) for product database.
  • Prepares or coordinates preparation of working drawings from sketches and design specifications. Determines new part numbers and bill of materials required. Learn new techniques and focus on productivity improvements.
  • Reads publications, attends showings, and consults with engineering, marketing, production, and sales representatives to establish design concepts.
  • Evaluates design ideas or modification requests based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and client specifications.
  • Integrates findings and concepts and sketches design ideas. Presents design to engineering, marketing or sales representatives and discusses need for modification and change.
  • Confers with industrial engineers, buyers, and manufacturing personnel to assure manufacturability.
  • Performs tolerance studies. Designs product packaging and graphics for advertising. Builds simulated model. Participates in testing. Prepares illustration manuals and procedures.
  • Designs components and assemblies for custom applications. Certifies customer submittals when required.
  • Checks drawings prepared by Drafter and Designer/Drafter. Assists manufacturing personnel in troubleshooting production problems.
Position Requirements:
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Expected to provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Graduate degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology from four-year college or university; and min three years related experience in similar function/Industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • COMPUTING SKILLS: Ability to effectively utilize 2D and 3D CAD software (Creo experience preferred), spreadsheets and word processing software. Ability to navigate and utilize custom applications in a MS Windows environment.

The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations.Equal Pay Act Range:Annual Salary Range $54,800 to $82,200 plus benefits and incentive plans.
