The Product Designer is responsible for taking a product from briefing to commercialization. The Product Designer will be responsible for at least one product per season and will be expected to develop design concepts and use creative problem solving to design products that are in line with the Hyperlite Mountain Gear user. The Product Designer is responsible for all patterns and documentation for each of the products to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Translating product brief into a design concept
  • Building sewn mockups and initial prototypes to validate design concept
  • Creating and maintaining product patterns
  • Creating and maintaining product documentation
  • Produce prototypes and test functionality
  • Improve the design of existing products
  • Planning and executing multiple field tests for each product
  • Aggregating and sharing field test data/feedback
  • Collaborating with other Product Designers to make product changes based on field test feedback
  • Considering MSRP and target cost, as laid out in the product brief, when choosing materials and trims
  • Improve the design of existing products

Requirements

  • Work experience as a Product Designer or similar role preferred
  • Experience in industrial design
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools
  • Time-management skills
  • Adaptability
  • BSc/MSc in Product Design, Manufacturing Design Engineering or relevant field
  • Sewing experience is a plus
