Job Description:
DescriptionThe Product Development Engineer II is responsible for the formulation and development of engineered thermoplastic compounds. This is a hands-on position that requires a significant amount of formulation, process, and lab work, as well as day to day interaction with customers, material, and equipment vendors, other RTP Development Engineers, Technicians, Sales Engineers, Customer Service Representatives, and Market and Product Managers. The overall responsibilities of this position will fall in the Structural Products with emphasis on Automotive Development and support.**Not eligible for work sponsorshipRequirementsSkills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills, familiarity with experimental design techniques, and statistical analysis required
  • Practical and common-sense approach to processing/manufacturing required
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently.
  • Must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to communicate with people in various positions and levels within and outside the company
  • Must have knowledge of ITAF, VDA, and other Automotive based quality systems.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Plastics, Material Engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 15+ years of related experience required
  • Background in compounding of filled and reinforced commodity resins, including glass fibers, for structural applications in the industrial and consumers markets with an emphasis on Automotive preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook; must be adept at learning new software

  • Travel to other locations.
Occasionally
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Standard office, lab, and production environments. The noise level is typically low, due to office equipment, the noise level on the production floor and lab is typically medium to high. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses, shoes, face shields, gloves, etc.Minimum wage is listed; actual will be based on education and experience.
