Description:
Contributes to Ideation and Design activities in relation with FEI projects, Accelerator projects, and Ideation initiatives at the identify stage of the innovation process in close collaboration with Business and project teams. Translate consumer insights into opportunity areas to generate ideas and leverage design knowledge, skills, and experience to inspire and develop product and package solutions in line with business strategy and needs.
Continuously seek to improve methods and tools to drive innovation performance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive and accelerate the front-end stage of the innovation process, leveraging commercial and technical knowledge across the organization to develop winning consumer concepts for products, packaging & services with commercial validity
Plan, execute and facilitate strategic and ideation workshops, identifying the most appropriate approach and tools to deliver the defined success criteria
Support teams in break-through innovation through trend identification, understanding of consumer motivations, creative facilitation, visualization, digital communication, and rapid prototyping.
Actively seek new trends, consumer insights and technologies both internally and externally and develop into consumer facing solutions in line with business strategy and needs
Partner with consumer insight team to identify, size & prioritize opportunity areas
Propose, plan and deliver design activities from early conceptualization via sketching, virtual modeling, animations, physical modeling and graphic design hands-on and iterative approach to solution development from designs to early prototyping
Support teams in early concept evaluation for consumer desirability and technical feasibility
Connect, exchange, and build innovation best practices with internal & external networks
Provides coaching to project teams on the innovation process for activities related to the problem identification and solution development phase, such as innovation sprints, ideation sessions, brainstorming techniques,
Hands on approach to support project teams to solution development
Actively participate in internal design network to promote cross-fertilization between different sites (R&D, Org. Units).
Propose new ideas/activities/methods and integrate design knowledge and practice to initiate and support innovation activity.
Coach and guide Packaging & Design Technician or external agencies in prototyping and design, if and when relevant
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Knowledge):
B.S. degree in Industrial design or related field preferred, preferably from a NASAD accredited design institute
Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial design and product development or related experience
Strong sketching, virtual modeling, animations, physical modeling and graphic design skills, including 2D and 3D computer software skills
Demonstrated ability to understand consumer needs, identify new opportunities and translate these needs and opportunities into new consumer products, packages and processes
Professional oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels and functions across the organization
Experience guiding product and packaging prototyping
Ability to lead teams without direct line management
Strong project management skills
Strong facilitation skills
Strong ability to prioritize, multitask and manage various day-to-day activities, working to a timeline as well as being able to work on large-scale projects and accommodating fast-track requests
Ability to utilize model shop tooling and machines
Strong creative problem-solving skills
Excels in a collaborative team environment, with the ability to lead and facilitate cross-functional teams
