Mission The Product Specialist is a position located within the Product Management department. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Marketing and Product Management and has responsibility for operations supporting product management and product data management. The position is instrumental to the execution of product development and support. Dimensions of the Position:
  • New Product Development: Complete assigned tasks in project execution, creating documentation, and compiling / documenting market research to move new product development projects forward. Lead, track and document efforts for product modifications, product markings changes, new ratings, and inputs to testing programs. Listen to customers and channel partners for changing industry trends and development opportunities for inputs to new product development.
  • Product Data Management: Become the subject matter expert in Mersen product information management systems for assigned product line. Work with existing software and business systems to modify / update product data for new and existing products. Update product installation manuals and data sheets as assigned.
  • Support: Coordinate with technical services / quality departments on field service requests, and support troubleshooting of products/applications. Coordination of printed and online marketing material, sample cases, other inputs to trade shows, and samples to OEM partners for sales and business development.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Compile monthly reports and presentations on sales, margins, opportunities, and other activities as assigned. Contribute to market analysis, product presentations and playbook presentations.
Main accountabilities:
  • Contributes to the development product specification used by the Engineering Department to develop all new product development projects. Ensuresmarket and customer requirements are contained within product specifications.
  • Coordinates and monitors progress of projects. Reports updates in monthly Product Management Review meeting.
  • Contributes to the Product Approval Committee by supporting deliverables such as market size, competitive information, price points, risk analysis and others.
  • To ensure new product introductions are complete with appropriate collateral, promotion, pricing support, and inventory.
  • To track new product performance and adjust plan in accordance with market reaction.
  • To develop and maintain an up-to-date analysis of pertinent competitive activity including pricing, products, and policies.
  • To initiate projects to improve or maintain gross margin.
  • To manage the removal of low volume, obsolete, or unprofitable products.
  • To coordinate the audit of assigned products to ensure quality and value.
  • To monitor customer reactions/complaints and provide necessary direction for correction.
  • To support the demand management process with input into the sales forecast on a monthly basis.
  • Identifies new product needs of the marketplace from interaction with end users, distributors, OEM's and the formal use of Voice of the Customer.
  • Other assigned duties
Requirements:
  • Associates or B.S. in engineering, marketing, business or equivalent.
  • Entry Level position to 3-5 years experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in Electrical Industry preferred.
  • Ability to be analytical; communication and Interpersonal skills; assertiveness.
